Considering my luck with these event types, it'll unfortunately be easier for me to buy a set of everything from someone

So one of the branches of where I work does bird feeders, suet cakes, and the like, and HR keeps some on hand to sell. Today there was a bunch in the break room, free for the taking. Plus boxes of purple slippers in 7.5-8 women's. Sadly I'm a 9
Apparently for the feeders and suet cakes there had been a lot more but then first took a lot. Still, I got a good few things and mom'll be happy when she sees what I got her. Her old collection kinda fell apart with age so the freebies are a good jumpstart back into it

Did you try on the slippers? Sometimes they stretch out depending on what they are made of. Maybe next time.

If they were a half size too small I would've tried, but 1-1.5 sizes smaller? Nah

New CEO is clearing house. A lot got tossed cuz it's so old it's unusable but this is stuff that's still good. Barring the infested suet cakes. So, set that up on tables in the break room and let the employees have at it. Decent paychecks and annual raises and bonuses would be better but free shit is free shit

So i believe i posted here about how my driveway is drifted over
So that alone is layers of snow
We had a warm day that started the melting process, which turned it into more or less solid ice
I told my friend trying to punch her truck through would be a stupid idea
My dad told her it would be a bad idea
She tried anyway
She got stuck, as we predicted
Took her bf over an hour to unstick her and that was only sped up by the fact that they found a tow rope in my garage

Amazing what our garage's/sheds can hold.

When your driveway is drifted over are you able to walk it to the road or are you stuck?

I lived where it snowed alot once and we had snowshoes which help you to walk on top of the snow.

At least she got un-stuck. Could have been stuck there until it all melted away!

I have a friend who lives in Alaska. His house has a heated driveway. He still needs to shovel the end of his driveway where the plows accumulate the snow, but he says it was totally worth it with how much it snows there.

Which would've been prolly until spring, so at least a couple months out, so she should be glad she was able to get out

wow, a heated driveway??! I guess it would need to be paved though... lots of dollars.

I knew someone who lived on a farm & would put sawdust or straw on the driveway for when it was icy and someone who tried kitty litter on their sidewalk. When we were kids they put salt on the driveway or sidewalk but it was paved.

Do you have any tricks for where you live, Kit?

We use salt on the roads. Salt isn't as effective on unpaved driveways like mine tho, so it's ice under all the drifts
Out in i believe Kansas they use some byproduct from corn that works as well, better for the environment than salt, and dyes the roads pink
