OG Switch, on the other hand, was impossible to find for how long? I know I lucked out getting mine in iirc June/July of launch year because of how high demand was

From what I've seen it's as glitchy as glitchy can get
$80-90 for a game that requires a key card and an internet connection to initially access (rip people in poor/no internet zones, especially those who cannot leave them often), from my understanding no major upgrades, and just a big buggy mess...it can wait
Nintendo's niche is supposed to be the "cheap family console" but the prices they want are not it
I doubt I'll get one. My Switch is still doing fine as it is

Out of my friends with a Switch 1, I'm the only one who can afford to go out and buy a Switch 2, which i still haven't seen the console of, just a handful of games. Not even slots for it
I'll prolly have to go in earlier in the day to see one at gamestop, but even then I'm not keen on getting it. I've got a ton of games on mine I haven't played much of, and others I haven't even played at all, plus there's more coming out I still want

Meanwhile at work my area is gonna be an absolute shitshow: lead's out on bereavement. We're debating on if he'll be back Wednesday when the bereavement time ends, or if he'll use time to be out for the whole week instead. Not that I would blame him for that, it was his mother who passed

Oh, so sorry for your lead's loss. It takes as long as it take. It's good your company gave him time off.

Sometimes it takes the wheels to fall off for those in charge to see the house of cards they built.

Company gives us three days, plus one for the burying his mother lived in Florida, no one knows if she's coming up or they're going down for burial or whatever. Used to be flat out one day but then I guess one of the higher-ups had to deal with that and got it extended

PFFT. Every August lead takes a week off for his birthday and they still haven't changed shit. Unless they're making the supervisors do it now. Which i can see the one teaching me and fobbing it off on me like she does other stuff for my area. I'm hoping for a mandate before then so I can find out what days and take them off myself, I've got 40 hours and August is the last month before they reset

I am sorry your lead lost his Mother. Good to know the company does give time for bereavement. A reminder to check if my work does, I know I can use vacation & maybe family leave ... not something a person automatically thinks about.

I am sure your Lead appreciates your support.

If you get vacation time, use it! Even if it is just to do a staycation & get stuff done around your house. I've been doing that.

Aaaaand he was back today. Coworkers on first said he was acting normal but I wouldn't be surprised to find that he blocked off the grieving while at work

Maybe? Haven't seen him since last Monday cuz his shift ends two hours before ours starts (he's M-F to our T-F, so his shifts are shorter as a result, but he still gets the 40 hours). Also I don't know if he's aware that supervisor did that in the first place. Superintendent is aware, he's taught me stuff too as a result. Have a note that's just that stuff. Came in handy the one day when supervisor couldn't remember the steps to get the cell report

I'm waiting for August cuz then it's so damn hot and muggy out that being at work is hell and I don't have to be there

So, a/c wouldn't even be of any use anyway. We do have giant fans though
