I like to think everyone has a giving spirit in them, it just sometime takes the right environment to draw it out.

Thanksgiving was quiet, not all my immediate family together which was a little sad, turkey dinner turned out blah because I timed the turkey wrong and it was ready sooner then I had expected, spilt half the drippings so had to make gravy mostly out of chicken broth ( less fattening that way I guess). And off all things I forgot to make stuffing!! Well, we need something to laugh about, right?

Yeah, I make some things and give them away as gifts. Cheaper than buying stuff and more personal and thoughtful.

-hugs- It is ok, things happen and we forget stuff. At least some things got made and you had family to share them with. There are people less fortunate somewhere. It is sad to think about.

We are going to do a Secret Santa at work. I pulled a new girl's name, but she is a friend of someone who also works there. She said she likes jewelery from one of the stores around here. I had a jewelery making kit (that got lost in a storage shed when we were moving and could not pay to get all our stuff out. Sad times.). I was thinking of making something for her though... and it would also help restart my jewelery making kit.

If you have to go out and buy stuff anyway, I would check the stores first to see if they are having any great sales. Sometimes you can get stuff at great bargains (do you have a Claire's store where you are?) where as I found to buy the items to make jewellry can be very expensive. If you already have the stuff then handmade is very nice.

On another note, bracelets made with candy wrappers is cool...I bet that some of the Windlyn group could suggest ways to make jewellery with recycled items...hairpins out of clay and keychains and such.

There is one in the mall. I loved getting the hairpins from there. I have not been in there in forever though. Or been to the mall in forever either. I really love the Spencers and Hot Topic stores there, as well as the Wok in the food court. I don't really need to go to the other stores for anything. Everything always seems way too expensive to me.

The Claire's here has sales for 5/$10 etc (or cheaper sometimes), maybe you can get a few presents for different people there . we don't have Spencers near us, I haven't really shopped at Hot Topic because they seem a little pricey but I got some Dr.Who merchandise on sale there once.

dragoness129 - not sure if it will work since you are on a different time zone but Kohl's and Sears also have 70% off jewellry. Check the local newspaper too because I know Kohl's had 20% off on top of it - which could make the cost next to nothing.

dragon - keep your eyes open because closer to Christmas they sometimes offer 80 to 90% off and if you have a discount coupon from the newspaper or online you can get even more. I have got some real deals that way - jewellry that full price would be over $200 for $20 (or less!).
