Had to get a battery for the remote, the cord has power and dimmer
Battery has more options, like a heartbeat/flicker and auto-off

I got it for myself but also so when my nieces are over the one who sleeps in mom's room can have a night light that isn't an alarm clock too

Nightlight is a good idea. Not sure about flicker mode--to mimic a fire perhaps?

It doesn't do a flicker so much as shift the brightness between low and high
