Granted, all the starving people, the sick, the poor, the insane, and the incapable die.

I wish life was easier.

Granted, but life gets boring.

I wish I could sleep. I can't get myself tired at night.

But of course! Life is no fun if it's all smooth sailing!

Granted, now you fall asleep at inopportune but not critical times. (like not when driving, but when talking to an interviewer or in class)

I wish... I could become omniscient!

Granted, however you lose all sense of self-being as an individual and person and float aimlessly in the void.

I wish I could grant wishes.

Granted; however you'll soon learn that the means rarely make things better. When things go well, more flock to use you. When things go badly, many want revenge against you. Every wish you grant is another roll of the die. Many wishes will be corrupted spectacularly, and perhaps those that succeed only treat a symptom rather than a root.
