My mother had to have a C-section with both me and my brother.

the c section's are just a small incision and you generally can be awake for it - it's just the healing time for the Mom is longer and she needs help lifting and carrying the baby.

Maybe my mom was just guilt tripping me cause she made it sound worse.

Watery/Stars: it all depends on when you were born...when my sister was born they sliced my Mom down the middle and she has a big scar but now they do a bikini incision so it is hidden. I've had a few people I know do C sections and you can't even tell. 2 of them had repeat c sections and no noticeable problem. And one had a csection for the first and then had VBirth for the next 2.

well, never actually having had it done I can't say... I only go by what others have said...and everyone is different for recovery, pain thresh hold etc. Depends too whether their stomach muscles were fit to begin with, lots of factors.
